In 1964, Watkins changed their name to WEM (Watkins Electric Music) and started producing a larger range of instrument and amplifiers, including the famous Copicat. When I bought this Sapphire in an auction, the bridge was missing, the controls were not working, the machine heads were seized up and the neck was in a sorry state. After several months, I am pleased to say that it is all restored and back in really good working order and it plays and sounds fine.
