The serial number on this Meteor dates to September 1975 and will have been one of the very first Shergold guitars (most likely a rebadged Hayman Comet) of its type. A single Re-An pickup at the bridge, a humbucker with a 3-way switch for various tonal options (single/ double coil/ out of phase?) The Volume/ Tone knobs are similar to the ones used on old Fuzz Faces. The bridge is the older Hayman 3 saddle design. The machine heads look Japanese rather than Van Gent, but they are definitely original. The neck is finished in familiar Shergold style, smoothly lacquered to perfection. There is very little fret wear and it plays well.
