I have always wanted to add a Hofner to my collection so when I spotted this late 60’s 176 Galaxie I just had to buy it. The name Galaxie was used for the Hofner 175 model as well as for the 176 model and this one has an Abachi body with three individually switched later style Hofner pickups with tone controls on each one, a single volume control, a rhythm / solo switch and tremolo. It is also fitted with a mute control on the bridge. The neck is nicely aged and it plays really well. Some Galaxie bodies were covered in fancy patterned vinyl.
